| The University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus is located within the city of Milwaukee, which
gives you access to many of the activities that are happening in the city.
The city offers a
diverse array of year-round cultural and recreational events that take
place at venues such as the Milwaukee Public Museum, the Marcus Performing
Arts Center, the Bradley Center sports arena and the Brewers'
stadium at Miller Park. UWM is only five blocks from the shores of Lake Michigan
and the surrounding parks and beaches, which are excellent places to run,
walk and people watch. The campus is also very close to Downer Avenue,
Capitol Drive in Shorewood and Brady Street where grocery stores,
restaurants and boutiques abound. The Riverwest neighborhood across
the Milwaukee River is an excellent place the adventurous spirit seeking
edgier venues.
During the summer go to a block party, hear
live music at Summerfest, attend one of the many ethnic festivals held
annually in the city or simply sit outside a restaurant on Brady street and
watch the world go by. At other times of year, enjoy winter sports or
engage in one of the all-year-round activities such as
visiting the Milwaukee Art Museum, seeing a play or sipping coffee in one
of the many coffee-houses around town.
